First Holy Communions
Who can receive First Holy Communion?
Children of the age of 7 have reached what is called 'the age of reason' and are thus ready to be prepared for First Holy Communion.
Holy Communion is our full participation in the Mass and so children need to be attending Mass every Sunday in order to be ready to participate in this preparation.
When does the course run?
We run a weekly preparation program, starting about September and culminating in June with the reception of First Holy Communion on the feast of Corpus Christi (the exact date of which varies each year, being 9 weeks after Easter).
Sessions are every Sunday between the 8.30am and 11.00am Masses. (We don't meet during half-term, school holidays etc.)
While the children are being prepared by our catechist, Emma, the parents meet next door to receive a formation programme that parallels the children's and enables parents to support their children with adult-level knowledge of the same topics the children are looking at).
The full list of dates of sessions, with the films the parents will look at, is here.
